Secrets Capri Offer Rejected

After visiting the GBP Coba, I realized that I really don't see a good reason to return to Secrets Capri (although the GM's offer was generous). I e-mailed the GM to let him know and he said that the offer still stands, but I doubt that I will take him up on it.

GBP Coba, Day 8

Departure Day
It's always sad to leave, but I always look forward to returning. We ran to have a quick breakfast at the 24-hour snack bar and I realized that I locked my key in my room again! Reception sent Security in just a few minutes. I already had everything ready anyhow. We had a private transfer to the airport. Our gate was located right by the smoking section at Margaritaville's, so I had to go somewhere else.

Masaje Del Pie
I decided to get my foot massage. It was so relaxing and they gave me a nice, cozy blanket (it was so cozy in fact, I couldn't even think about germs). When I was done, they turned the massage feature on a timer so that I could relax until it was time for me to board. Not a bad way to spend your time in the airport.

GBP Coba, Day 7

Playa Del Carmen
Mom & I decided to go to Playa Del Carmen again. I wore my bathing suit top under my t-shirt so I could get some sun, but it was not that hot. It was nice while we were walking around though. I bought a cute black dress at bershka.com.

Jungla Caribe
I stopped to say goodbye to Paolo because I told him that I would be back. He's so nice.

Rolandi's
Naturally, mom didn't want to try anything new, so we went to Rolandi's for lunch even though we had pizza every day at the Bahia Principe. They do have good brick oven pizza though. Omar was working too, so I got to talk to him and catch up for a few minutes. He's a friend I met when I stayed in Playa for 2 1/2 weeks in April.

Rain
It rained at the Bahia while we were gone a little. There's really not much sun out, but I'm going to try to take advantage of it since we leave in the morning.

Mucho Frio
I tried laying out for a little while, but it was too cold and I put the towel over me, so what was the point?

Locked Out
When I went back to my room, I realized that I locked my key in my room. Security was downstairs, so I asked him to open it and he never returned. Finally, I found one of the housekeepers who let me in.

Internet
I wanted to check e-mail before dinner and Luis had e-mailed me asking me to stop by to say "goodbye" in person. I ran over there because I only had about 15 minutes to spare before dinner. I said goodbye to him and Ann Marie. They were joking with me and asked me when I was coming back. LOL...don't tempt me! It's hard to say goodbye.

La Gran Tortuga
Luis sent me in a shuttle to pick up my parents and then they drove us to the restaurant, which was the steak house. There was a cat outside (the first time I ever saw a cat on the grounds). They brought a heart shaped cake for my mom and dad's 45th wedding anniversary. Then, the shuttle driver picked us up again. He was so funny, he told us his Doberman was "poopy," but he meant that it was a "puppy." He also told us that a big group from Spain and Portugal "invaded the lobby" at the Coba. I realized that's why it was so smoky the other night. I told him "no fumar!"

Premiere Lobby
We went to listen to the band again. Dad tried a shot of Habañero Tequila. It was our last night.

Un Amigo Especial
When I returned to my room, I found a letter and a jewelry box on my bed. It was the nicest letter from Luis, the Hotel Director and a beautiful silver necklace with hearts on it. It is a very meaningful gift and every time I wear it, I will think of him and my 40th birthday.

GBP Coba, Day 6

Bahia Principe Residencial Golf Resort
I went on a tour of the new Golf resort property located across from the resorts. Lots start at just $180,000! LOL It´s being designed by Robert Trent Jones, and the craziest thing is that my dad met this guy the other day who said he was designing the course, and I jokingly said, ¨who is he....Robert Trent?¨ It was the first name that came to mind. He´s staying here with his wife and kids. My dad never even heard of Robert Trent Jones! How could I?

Needless to say, I did not buy a lot. The prime lots are going for $350,000 USD. That´s just insane. You have 5 years to build on the lots. In case anyone wins the lottery, here's the link...(and, let me know because I get 15% commission!) LOL

Piscina
I was laying on a raft in the pool and I got red pretty quickly, so I already had to get out for a while.

Food Baby
I bet you were wondering about my Food Baby. Well, let me tell you that it has doubled in size! At the beginning of the week, I wore a bikini, then I switched to a halter top with a skirted bottom and today I've graduated to the tankini. I really need to work hard when I get back. I can't believe how quickly the weight goes on (and it's not as easy to take it off). Of course, we have been eating at the specialty restaurants every night. The only exercise that I have been getting is walking up the three flights of stairs to my room.

Mom and Dad
They are bored out of their minds. They have nothing in common and my dad says that he can't walk. So, that doesn't leave them with many options. I just go somewhere else because it drives me crazy. They should have gone home with the Bitz's.

Luis y Rita y Sebastian
Rita was going to bring Sebastian to lunch, but he fell asleep, so Luis met me at the Cozumel buffet and we talked while he had lunch. We always have so much to talk about.

Afterwards, Luis took me to their house to see baby Sebastian. He's so little, but very alert. He already holds up his head really well and looks all around. I think he looks like Luis. Rita says he looks like a turtle without the shell.

I visited for a while and gave them Sebastian's presents.

Ann Marie
When I got back and checked my e-mail, Ann Marie had e-mailed me to meet her in the Coba lobby for coffee. I ran over there and had to rush back to get ready for dinner. I think they put some alcohol in our Cappuccino's.

Portofino's
I had about 15 minutes to get ready, so when I saw the shuttle drive at our building, I asked him if he could pick us up at 5 to 7:00 p.m. and take us to Portofino's. I ran around like a nut getting ready and didn't even get to shower. He knocked on my door because I still wasn't ready and my parents were already waiting in the shuttle. He waited for us the whole time. LOL It was nice though because he also offered to pick us up.

The waiters remembered me again, and before we finished Luis came over to say "hello." Rita, her mother and Sebastian had an 8:00 p.m. reservation there as well. I bopped over to say "bye" to them before the shuttle came to pick us up.

Coba Lobby
We went to the Coba lobby for a drink and it was the questionnaire night at the Kukulkan buffet and I wanted to fill one out. As I was walking over there, I saw Jorge and he got me a table.

Premiere Lobby
We moved to the Premiere lobby because it was too smoky at the Coba lobby and we wanted to listen to the band. They were on break when we got there, but we waited. I didn't stay long because I had a long day running all over the place, so I went back to the room and cleaned up the disaster I left and read more of my book.

It was a good day!

GBP Coba, Sunday - Day 5

Fever Blister
I believe that it was a fever blister rather than a cold sore now because the Abreva made it worse. I haven't been able to wear lipstick all week. I've been using another Chapstick-type medicine and it's been helping, but it wasn't until today that I finally noticed a big difference. I hope it is completely gone soon. I can't stand walking around with this disgusting thing on my lip! I might have spoken too soon, because now it keeps bleeding. So gross!

Adios, Bitz's
The Bitz's left at 7:45 a.m. this morning. They had a good time (with the exception of Mr. Bitz getting sick). Mrs. Bitz said she's leaving him at home next time because he always gets sick.

Sol
I'm trying to work on my tan, but it's rather frustrating that my dad sits under a Palm tree and a palapa every day and he is very dark. However, I do use 50 SPF, so that might explain it. My mom and dad just argue about him using sunscreen.

Just enjoying my Banana Daiquiri's and laying out.

Weather
The weather has been absolutely perfect. It's hot, but there's a breeze, so it makes it comfortable. In the evening it cools off a bit more, but it's still beautiful. Better than being sweltering.

Jorge
Jorge called me and wanted to take me to his store for me to pick out a present for my birthday. My mom wanted to see his store too, so he took us over to Akumal. (He's going to move his store to the Hacienda at the GBP because there's more traffic, but it's unfortunate because his place is so cute now.)

I picked out a small shell necklace, but he made me take the large one and also a red coral bracelet. He wanted to give me everything, so I had to stop looking, but I was looking for Christmas presents.

That was so nice of him. I hope his business picks up. When Paul finishes my Web site, there will be a link to his store there because he ships anywhere. He makes almost everything in the store.

Mikado
We had reservations at the Japanese steak house tonight, but dad wasn't there and he was supposed to meet us at 7:00 p.m. When he finally showed up, he said he went to the Mediterranean restaurant first, and then they drove him over. Then, you wonder why I like to vacation alone?

We met some nice people during our dinner from Vancouver, Germany and Detroit.

Pictures
I'm not going to be able to post pictures because I need to figure out how to do that before posting again. When we went to Secrets, the one's that I downloaded disappeared off of my camera. I need to read the directions before I try again.

GBP Coba, Saturday - Day 4

Piscina
Since it was the Bitz's last day, we hung out by the quiet pool all day hoping to get some color. (It's also Barbara's last day, but she went to the ruins and to the beach.) Mrs. B. got pretty red. Barbara didn't get much color at all.

Mrs. Bitz and I went to the Coba beach and walked the whole beach, then came back to the pool.

Mr. Bitz was sick all day and now Mom & Dad got sick too.

Aunt Phyllis, Wish You Were Here!
Everyone has been sick and they usually stay in their rooms (well, that is typical for my mom). I think you and I are the only one's who don't do that. (Although I did get the Flu at Secrets on the last day, but it poured rain all day and there was nothing to do anyhow.)

Uncle Gene, I had Some Soup for You
Everyone has been sick and I believe that soup cures you, so I started eating soup for lunch. They had some good choices such as Lentil, Minestrone and Onion. I know that you enjoyed your soup in Punta Cana and thought of how you would have enjoyed these.

Cockroach
When I went back to my room, there was a cockroach in the hallway and I didn't want it to come into my room, so I knocked on Housekeepings door. When no one answered, I opened the door and saw a broom, which I helped myself to and flung the cockroach across the floor to the other side. Let him visit someone else! LOL

Management Cocktail Party 2
I had to give Luis a hard time because this was the second time we went and it was canceled. He was really upset because they misunderstood his direction and announced it at the end of the show the other day, but they should not have because he wanted to promote it more and send out letters first. When Annemarie couldn't reach him at first, I joked that we should send him an e-mail because he would respond faster.

Annemarie got me a really fun ring for my birthday (that I put on right away as it matched my outfit). She also got me a beautiful necklace and earing set that is silver and it has purple stones. That was so nice of her.

Annemarie and Luis were embarrassed about my birthday dinner. I didn't know what they were talking about because I thought it was great, but I guess they ordered me a special cake with my name on it and it never was delivered. I never would have known if they didn't tell me. We had champagne and a heart shaped cake, which was great. They want to do something to make up for it, which is ridiculous and unnecessary. Since Mr. Bitz wasn't feeling well and couldn't go to dinner, they offered to send food to his room. Now, this is service!

I introduced Annemarie and Luis to my parents and Mrs. Bitz. We chatted for a bit before we had to head to dinner.

Arlequin
We had dinner reservations for Mr. B's birthday at the Arlequin. Barbara met us there. When we sat down, I noticed a guy eating alone, so I invited him to join us, but he was almost finished. It was freezing in there! The restaurant is very nice and was located at the Akumal resort. Since Mr. B. didn't show up, they thought it was my dad's birthday and brought him a cake and a napkin birthday hat and a flaming cucaracha shot like I had the other night. It was very funny.

Treats
When we returned to our rooms after dinner, we each had 2 platters of desserts. My dad also had a full bottle of LTD. Luis treats us too good!

Band at Premiere Lobby
On our way back to the room, we noticed a band playing music at the Premiere lobby, so we decided to go there for a while. Even Mr. B. joined us. The band was good. Mom & Mr. B. danced a little, and were hoping to hear their song, but they decided to go back because they had to leave in the morning. Just after they left, they played it...."Old Time Rock & Roll."

The Bitz's were sad that they were leaving. I knew they would be.

GBP Coba, Day 3

Playa Del Carmen
Mom, Mrs. Bitz, Barbara...or Ruth, as my dad kept calling her...& I took a taxi to Playa Del Carmen. He droppped us off in Paseo Del Carmen and I showed them where I stayed when I was there for 2 1/2 weeks in April.

Omar was not working till Rolandi's till the evening, so I didn't get to say "hi" again.

I don't think that Barbara realized how huge PDC and 5th Avenue was. She couldn't believe what I fast shopper I am! Ha! LOL....Everyone who knows me knows that I don't dilly-dally. We only got about 1/3 of a way through 5th Avenue. Then, we walked to Walmart and took a taxi back to the resort.

The guys already ate, so we all ate at the Kukulkan buffet and then met them at the pool, but Barb went to the beach.

Management Cocktail Party
We were waiting for someone else to show up before going in, but no one ever came. By the time we went in, they had decided to cancel it and reschedule. I saw Luis walking back to the lobby, so I went to say "hi!". It was his first day back.

Luis
Luis is quite the busy man, but he's really excited about Sebastian. For some reason, he kept thinking that I was arriving on November 11th. We talked in the lobby for a while, but I had a dinner reservation with Barbara and my parents and the Bitz's were going to the Oriental restaurant. Luis is going to let me know when Rita and Sebastian come for lunch so that I can see them.

Portofino's
Barbara and I went to the Italian restaurant at the Coba for dinner. The Hostess recognized me from Annemarie's birthday celebration and kept asking me if I wanted some Tequila. The waiters also recognized me and were joking with us the whole time. I tried to talk to them in Spanish as much as possible. I wasn't going to order dessert, so the Head Waiter made me a very nice fruit platter.

After dinner, Barbara and I looked at the resort stores and at the stores at the Hacienda. She thinks it's funny how everyone makes comments to me.

Latino Show
Barbara went to her room, but the rest of us watched the evening entertainment and then had drinks in the lobby. I wanted a cappuccino because it was a bit chilly...no one else thought so though. The girls walked and the guys took the shuttle!

GBP Coba, Feliz Cupleaños - Day 2

My 40th Birthday
It felt just like another day in paradise, but I'm sure the reality will hit me more when I get back home. There was a double rainbow at the pool, so I think that's a good sign. I didn't get a picture though because my camera was charging.

Puerto Aventuras
Mom, Mrs. Bitz and I went to Puerto Aventuras to do a little shopping and watch the dolphins. If I had my bathing suit on, I would have swam with them, but there's always a next time!

We came back and hung out at the pool.

Dinner
It was my birthday dinner at the Tequila restaurant at the GBP Tulum. The shuttle drove us there. It was located right on the beach. The food was very good there....we all enjoyed it. They brought champagne for everyone and a birthday cake for me, which was sooo good. It was chocolate with chocolate frosting, not white, but it was like mousse, so it was delicioso!

GBP Coba, Halloween - Day 1

Arrival
Our trip was very smooth. We actually arrived at 9:40 instead of 10:40 due to the time change. It was the first time I ever got the red light at the airport (and we had 8 pieces of luggage between the three of us). Fortunately, they only went through one piece of luggage and we were on our way! Our rooms were filled with champagne and a fruit basket and other nice amenities. Our building was 27B by the quiet pool. I had a 3rd floor room overlooking the quiet pool. My parents and the Bitz's were on the first floor overlooking the quiet pool.

Cold Sore/Fever Blister
OMG...on Saturday morning, I woke up with this HUGE cold sore on my lip. I put some Abreva on it before we left and it made it totally worse. On Halloween, it was a giant scab. I was so embarrassed.

Barb
The Apple Rep told me that Barbara went to Chichen Itza for the day, so I left her a message and met her before dinner. She brought me a nice amber and silver pin from Poland and a collection of Polish recipes for my birthday. That was really nice of her. Her room is next to mine.

Dinner
The 6 of us went to dinner at the buffet at the GBP Tulum and they had the Mariachi's, which my dad loved.

The Hacienda
We walked around the Hacienda a bit and I bought Natalia an embroidered gauze shirt for her 1st birthday.

Ann Marie's Birthday Dinner
Ann Marie invited me to her birthday dinner with friends from the Coba. It was supposed to be at the Mediterranean restaurant, but when I got there at 10:00 p.m., no one was there. However, Eduardo, my friend who makes the Mayan calendars, is now the Manager there and he called and found out that they moved to the Portofino restaurant, so he called me a shuttle.

There were about 12 people at Ann Marie's birthday celebration. They mostly spoke in Spanish, but that was good practice for me.

At midnight, they wishes us both a Happy Birthday and made us do shots called La Cucaracha, which is Tequila, Kahlua and something else that was flaming. I didn't want to do it because I don't like Tequila, but they weren't taking no for an answer. You had to drink it through a straw while it was flaming and I went through about 5 straws first.

They all went dancing at the Hacienda afterwards, but I was up since 1:00 a.m., and went to bed.
