Arrival
Our trip was very smooth. We actually arrived at 9:40 instead of 10:40 due to the time change. It was the first time I ever got the red light at the airport (and we had 8 pieces of luggage between the three of us). Fortunately, they only went through one piece of luggage and we were on our way! Our rooms were filled with champagne and a fruit basket and other nice amenities. Our building was 27B by the quiet pool. I had a 3rd floor room overlooking the quiet pool. My parents and the Bitz's were on the first floor overlooking the quiet pool.
Cold Sore/Fever Blister
OMG...on Saturday morning, I woke up with this HUGE cold sore on my lip. I put some Abreva on it before we left and it made it totally worse. On Halloween, it was a giant scab. I was so embarrassed.
Barb
The Apple Rep told me that Barbara went to Chichen Itza for the day, so I left her a message and met her before dinner. She brought me a nice amber and silver pin from Poland and a collection of Polish recipes for my birthday. That was really nice of her. Her room is next to mine.
Dinner
The 6 of us went to dinner at the buffet at the GBP Tulum and they had the Mariachi's, which my dad loved.
The Hacienda
We walked around the Hacienda a bit and I bought Natalia an embroidered gauze shirt for her 1st birthday.
Ann Marie's Birthday Dinner
Ann Marie invited me to her birthday dinner with friends from the Coba. It was supposed to be at the Mediterranean restaurant, but when I got there at 10:00 p.m., no one was there. However, Eduardo, my friend who makes the Mayan calendars, is now the Manager there and he called and found out that they moved to the Portofino restaurant, so he called me a shuttle.
There were about 12 people at Ann Marie's birthday celebration. They mostly spoke in Spanish, but that was good practice for me.
At midnight, they wishes us both a Happy Birthday and made us do shots called La Cucaracha, which is Tequila, Kahlua and something else that was flaming. I didn't want to do it because I don't like Tequila, but they weren't taking no for an answer. You had to drink it through a straw while it was flaming and I went through about 5 straws first.
They all went dancing at the Hacienda afterwards, but I was up since 1:00 a.m., and went to bed.
